COME AND EXPERIENCE IT FOR YOURSELF
Yoga is difficult to understand only by reading about it. The simplest way to know whether this approach is right for you is to come along, take part in a class and notice the experience for yourself.
WHAT HAPPENS IN A CLASS?
Gentle movement and postures
Breathing practices
Simple practices to move the body with greater awareness.
Learning to notice and gradually work with the breath including techniques for balancing the mind and body using the breath as a tool.
Guided relaxation
Meditation and Awareness Practices
Time to consciously release unnecessary physical and mental tension.
Simple ways of developing greater steadiness, observation and stillness.
The practices work together over time and are integrated rather than separated.
Getting Started
Integrated Yoga
If you are new to Santosha Yoga, our introductory classes and Begin courses are the best place to start. They introduce the way we practise and give you an opportunity to experience movement, breathing, relaxation and meditation over several sessions.
The purpose of Yoga isn't simply to feel good for an hour. With regular practice, techniques first learnt in class can gradually become familiar enough to use in everyday life.
You may begin to notice tension earlier, become more aware of your breathing, respond to periods of stress differently, or simply know a few practices you can return to when you need them. This develops through regular practice rather than trying to achieve everything at once.
From there, you can continue with regular classes and gradually develop your practice over time.
